Today we have DJI Phantom 4 repair within our laboratories. A drone which crashed into the tree, to be exact. The Phantom 4 does have multiple sensors to help avoid obstacles, however, these are not operation during Sport Mode. During this mode DJI Phantom 4 is capable of reaching 45 miles per hour and being a drone has quite of a stopping distance in the air.

Crashing DJI Phantom 4 into a tree is fairly common accident scenario, however, good news is that this is way better than smashing it into a solid wall or a complete unfortunate landing in case a motor or battery fails.

On this occasion the evaluation revealed damaged landing gear as well as gimbal camera. Unfortunately, replacing individual gimbal parts was not an option, since shorted components on the gimbal PCB were visible to the naked eye. After replacement of the camera and landing gear DJI Phantom 4 was as good as new and passed all the flight and quality tests.
